Lori

I loved working with this bride Rachel and her mother Lori. Rachel and I came up with the idea of designing her cake like her wedding dress. Her dress had beautiful lace appliques through out, buttons down the back with a elegant ruffle. I have to admit that we had a great time trying to figure out how to make it look as close to her dress as we could. I'm extremely happy how it turned out and that the bride loved it!

Black and white are two colors that can go with many wedding colors that a bride can choose from. In this case we made a white fondant cake with black buttercream embroidered flowers on the 1st and 3rd tier; the 2nd and 4th tier we added black fondant lace dusted with edible black luster dust to add depth. We tied in her colors silver and tiffany blue by adding the tiffany blue ribbon and silver dragees which made it very elegant.

Aubrey

This three tier exquisite diamond design cake had hidden pillars between the 2nd and 3rd tier by some of the most beautiful roses I've ever put on a cake. I also loved the big black ribbon bows with sparkly pearl broaches. Thank you Aubrey for letting us do your wedding cake, it turned out very classy.

Brandon's Ute grooms cake

We made a University of Utah cake for Brandon an old friend of ours. Why a Ute cake for a groom you might ask? A grooms cake is something to represent a groom, in this case Brandon is a big fan of the Utes. The drum and feather is the official logo of U of U. We made the feather out of fondant and dusted it with an edible dust to give is more definition, the drum you might have guessed it is made out of a rice crispy treat covered in fondant. This cake is airbrushed with a specific food coloring to get the Ute's true red school color. This cake size is a 7"-11". Congrats Brandon and Eden and GOOOOOO UTES!!!!!!!!

A white wedding cake can be simple but elegant. I loved how we crimped the edges on this cake, I thought it gave it a little something extra. Ribbon is one way that you can tie in a wedding color, like this bride did using the navy blue ribbon.

This three tier swirly twirly chocolate butter cream cake has a string of fondant pearls dusted with a edible pearl dust. I loved the beautiful assortment of flowers cascading down the side of the cake.

This is the tallest wedding cake we have ever made! Don't misunderstand, we've made many five tiered cakes. With adding pillars and flowers in between each tier it made this cake so much taller then if the five tiers were stacked on top of each other. I would have to say that two short women putting this cake together made for an interesting sight. On this cake there are around 200 flowers which I loved, they were beautiful. This is certainly a way to give some height to a five tier cake. Sizes 6-8-10-12-14

William

William won a free grooms cake from us at the Provo Bridal show we attended for how many push-ups he could do.... When we met I was trying to talk him into wanting something showing a hobby of his aka soccer, but he wanted simple, sweet and dark blue(William's favorite color).
To be honest it would have been fun to make something a little crazy but I loved how he stuck with his personality and wanted it to include them both, they were a cute couple. Congrats William and Kristen.

It goes to show a grooms cake can be really anything.

Sharline

We really enjoyed making Sharline's cake.... This cake was for Sharline's mother in-law Elaine's 80th Birthday; they wanted to surprise her with a quilted theme cake because she is known for her amazing quilting skills. I love how the detail and texture of each square looks like fabric on this cake, the ivory squares also indicate 80 for her age, and the crimped edges were a great touch.

I love messy buttercream cakes with a small touch of color. This cake is 6" tall (three layers not just the regular two). Sizes 8-10-12

Eliza

It's not very often that I get to airbrush the entire cake but this cake is airbrushed completely to get the right red color.

Spring is coming

I wasn't expecting to make a beach cake in Utah in the middle of January but we had a blast doing something so different. This bride is from California so I loved that she wanted to bring a little sunshine to Utah's cold winter. On this cake the shells are made out of chocolate, starfish out of sugar and the crab is gumpaste.

Hillary

Hillary's wedding cake turned out just the way I pictured it would, we had a great time. We used modeling chocolate for the chocolate curls and twists I loved how it made this cake.

"I wanted to let you know how pleased we were with the wedding cake you created for my daughter's wedding recently. I was amazed that you were able to create exactly what we wanted from just a picture we brought you. You are very professional, extremely talented, and a pleasure to work with. I am looking forward to hiring you again and I will certainly refer friends and family. It was a very good experience!
Thank you again."

Cossette

This cake was for our dear friend Cossette. Her dress was a beautiful lace gown and she wanted a lace overlay design for her cake. We loved making her vision come to life. Thanks Cossette and Congratulations!

History of Groom's Cakes

Traditionally, small pieces of the groom’s cake were wrapped and sent home with unmarried female guests. It was believed that if a maiden tucked the cake under her pillow, her dreams would reveal the man she was to marry. If you'd like to revive this tradition, wrap pieces of groom’s cake in foil or in small gift boxes, and attach a note describing the tradition.

Nowadays, the bride often orders the cake with the groom’s favorite flavor, filling and icing, and then keeps it a secret from the groom. Because the cake is a gift from the bride to the groom, it often reflects the groom's interests and comes in a variety of flavors (although chocolate has been historically popular) and themes (such as sports teams). A groom's cake with a sentimental message is a heartfelt, timely, and surprising wedding present to your significant other.

Some grooms may, if they prefer, order the cake and keep it a secret from the bride. Many grooms like to have the cake decorated or shaped into something that reflects one of their hobbies, or something the couple enjoys doing together.

Keep in mind that while considering the grooms cake, you may want to consult with your fiancĂ© to see how he would prefer this tradition to be carried out. After all, the purpose of the groom’s cake is to honor the groom in a special way!

Many prefer to have the groom’s cake at the reception, usually on a same table next to the wedding cake.
However if the idea of another cake at the wedding sounds redundant, consider serving it at the rehearsal dinner.

Some fun ideas for groom’s cakes are favorite sports/sports teams, musical instruments, outdoors/fishing/hunting, entertainment/movies/video games/books/card games, superhero’s, favorite foods, tux
